We are delighted that you are considering Mafikeng High School for your child's education. As a public secondary school serving Grades 8-12, we are committed to providing quality education that prepares learners for success in tertiary education and beyond.

Our admissions process is designed to be transparent, fair, and accessible to all eligible learners. We welcome applications from learners who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence and personal growth.

As a fee-charging school in Quintile 4, we offer excellent educational facilities and programs while maintaining affordable fee structures. Our Section 21 status allows us to manage our resources effectively to benefit our learners.

Grade Levels

Admission available for Grades 8-12

Grade 8

Foundation year of high school. Learners are introduced to a broader curriculum and begin developing the skills necessary for secondary education success.

Grade 9

Consolidation year where learners strengthen their foundational knowledge before subject selection for Grade 10.

Grade 10

First year of FET phase. Learners select their subjects based on career interests and academic strengths.

Grade 11

Continuation of FET phase with deeper focus on selected subjects and preparation for final examinations.

Final year culminating in the National Senior Certificate examination. Learners prepare for tertiary education.

  • Transfer Certificate - From previous school
  • Proof of Residence - Utility bill or affidavit
  • Immunization Record - Clinic card
  • Two Passport Photos - Recent photos of learner

Academic Requirements

  • Grade 8-9: Minimum 50% in Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy
  • Grade 8-9: Minimum 50% in Home Language
  • Grade 10-12: Minimum 40% in selected subjects
  • Grade 10-12: Must meet subject prerequisites
  • Good Conduct: Positive behavioral record
  • Attendance: Good attendance record required
  • Assessment: May require placement assessment
  • Interview: Parent and learner interview required

Application Process

Step-by-step guide to enrollment

Obtain Application Form

Download the application form from our website or collect it from the school office during working hours (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday).

Complete Application

Fill out the application form accurately and ensure all required documents are attached. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Submit Application

Submit the completed application form and all documents to the school office before the application deadline. You will receive an acknowledgment receipt.

Placement Assessment

Eligible applicants will be invited for a placement assessment to determine appropriate grade placement and subject suitability.

Interview

Both parent/guardian and learner will attend an interview with school administration to discuss expectations and answer questions.

Admission Notification

Successful applicants will receive an admission letter with registration instructions. Unsuccessful applicants will be placed on a waiting list.

Complete Registration

Pay the registration fee and complete all registration formalities within the specified timeframe to secure the learner's place.

Attend Orientation

New learners and parents attend the orientation program to meet teachers, tour the school, and learn about school policies and expectations.

Fee Structure (2024)

  • Registration Fee: R500 (non-refundable)
  • Annual School Fees: R12,000
  • Monthly Installments: R1,200 (10 months)
  • Termly Payments: R3,000 (4 terms)
  • Discount for Full Payment: 5% if paid by January 31
  • Sibling Discount: 10% for second child, 15% for third

Financial Assistance

We understand that some families may face financial challenges. Limited bursaries are available for learners who demonstrate academic potential and financial need. Applications for financial assistance must be submitted along with the admission application and include proof of income. All applications are treated confidentially.
